New furnishings and renovated work spaces for the Volvo mechanical workshop in Sweden

DEA's primary objective is the satisfaction of the customer, who must be provided with a unique experience.

What did the client request for this workshop?

For this Volvo project, the Service Manager requested a complete modernisation of the image and the work environment, as well as a technical upgrade to increase the efficiency of the workshop as a whole.

Once the CAD layout of the workshop had been obtained, the following elements were evaluated in order:

  • The work areas to be outfitted
  • The obstacles and problems present
  • The possible solutions for each work area

During the design phase, DEA aims to optimise the available space by coming up with “ad hoc” solutions. The concept is to use a specific furnishing solution within each individual zone of the workshop. In this case, the company was asked to renovate the entire workshop, including the mechanical, diagnostics, receiving, and bodywork areas.

For every mechanical station, we furnished workstations with the same configurations. This will allow the mechanics to work at different workstations while always having the same equipment at their disposal.

In order to ensure an optimal and comprehensive assortment, each workstation has been equipped with:

  • a trolley with 6 drawers to be positioned beneath the worktop
  • a computer workstation module with a workbench designed specifically to accommodate a cabinet or a printer, and to allow the mechanic to sit in front of the monitor while keeping their legs beneath the worktop.
  • a module containing spools for air hoses and electrical cables, as well as two electrical outlets (residential or industrial, based on the requirements), thus allowing every mechanic to always have compressed air and electrical power at their disposal.
  • a waste collection module with two ecological containers for sorted waste collection.
  • a DEA WORK TOP, which renders the lower part of the unit even more stable by securing it to a single structure.  The unit also offers the important possibility of installing a vice at any point of the worktop and working directly with a hammer.
  • Panels above the worktop with electrical outlets and data connectors
  • closure panels on the remaining modules for feeding pipes and cables
  • a module with a shutter for hanging any special equipment that isn't housed inside the equipment trolley, which is extremely convenient as it allows the mechanic to quickly and easily retrieve all the necessary tools.
  • a module for positioning the computer monitor, and a module with an extractable shelf for the mouse and keyboard;
  • every two workstations contains an oil spool module
  • an overhead unit for storing equipment, work folders, containers of special oil not normally distributed, etc.
  • a 72 cm DEA wash basin module that comes complete with a waste collection module, a washbasin, and a soap holder integrated into the upper section.

In the end, DEA's Made in Italy Design, and high-quality flexible solutions provided for extremely satisfactory results for the renovation of this workshop.
